Splinterlands On THE MOON!

Hats off to the Splinterlands team led by @yabapmatt and @aggroed. This week Splinterlands launched the SPS governance token. These tokens are airdropped daily to all wallets holding Splinterlands game assets and DEC or SPT Hive-Engine tokens. Many records were shattered, and many new people entered the Hive ecosystem. New account signups - more than 5,000 Hive accounts created by Splinterlands this week. Weeky active users - more than 29,000. Weekly transaction volume - more than 29,000,000. Total market cap - more than $99,000,000. Total rental volume - 150,000 cards. The unprecedented growth has put on enormous strain on the Splinterlands app, as the team scrambles to scale the sucker up, seemingly adding more resources daily. What a great problem to have!

This Week in Hive-Powered dApps, Tribes, & Tokens

Hive powers a growing number of decentralized apps (dApps). Since they all run on the same chain, one Hive account can access every app. Here's a quick summary of the Hive app landscape.

Condenser (Hive.blog) and PeakD Go Turbo

Between Hive dapps and the Hive blockchain sits a layer of Hive API nodes. Dapps called into these API nodes to read and write data from the chain. This week, the increased traffic from Splinterlands madness stressed the system and identified some bottlenecks in the API node layer. The API node operators and devs (@mahdiyari) worked together to isolate and fix the issue. As a result, Hive.blog and PeakD see a dramatic speed increase for broadcast (i.e. voting on content). Note, HiveKeychain and HiveSigner haven't updated yet so the speed is only noticeable when logging in with posting key or PeakLock. Once Hive Keychain and other apps update, the load on API nodes will calm down and all apps will provide a smoother, more-responsive experience.

LeoFinance CubDefi Kingdoms UI Update

The LeoFinance team rolled out some updates to https://cubdefi.com/ this week. The UI shows more data and aims to be exponentially better. The team is also preparing to launch a new DeFi system called IDOs which will burn lots of CUB tokens.

HiveSigner UI improvements

The HiveSigner team deployed a new release this week including a slew of UI bug fixes and improvements. Read more here.

Terrive Photo-sharing App Gains Some Traction

A new Hive-powered photo sharing dapp launched about a month ago, but just came to my attention. The app is called Terrive. It seems like a minimal proof-of-concept but it has room to grow. The app reminded me of the old SteepShot app (now defunct) on Steem.

Exode Launches Colonization Demo Alpha Test

Exode, the space-exploration NFT game, released new content this week. Players who have planets can test-drive the new colonization mission to explore their planet.

A relatively new Hive-powered game called MuTerra launched their first pre-sale this week. In tandem, a treasure hunt began.
